Never thought I’d be a blog reader until 2025 !! I guess this year will consist of so much reading snd writing of not only books but BLOGS MARGO DELA CRUZ BLOGS. It’s a year to kill deadlines and get shit done before our impending doom created by the brain we strain. Hehehhehehehe
This blogs super sick & a wonderful start to a new era of ingesting your content ❤️
i’m glad i’m bringing everybody back into reading again and enjoying blogs! there’s something more intimate and refreshing on substack that i haven’t found writing long essays on tumblr or reddit (BLEGH) or posting my life on instagram or twitter. i feel a lot more fulfilled having a community of engaged readers who enjoy my insane thoughts!!!
and to your next point, it’s time to kill the idea of deadlines and take it slow because there’s no rush to pump out content—i’m actually trying to do the exact opposite! i’d love to post every month, but we’ll see how it goes. nonetheless, i love writing and seeing people read what i have to say. <3
ooo wait i didn't answer the second question! in regards to anne hero, i remember her talking about this perhaps on her discord server or maybe it's actually on her website/shop.....whichever site it was, i do agree with this point she made, and i'll paraphrase: 'sometimes you need an old white man to critique your art' LOL but true tbh !!
this is mostly geared towards to, like, "instagram/tiktok artists" that are always praised for their art, but it's mostly just generally trendy or typically aesthetically pleasing art, like "pinterest-y" stuff. not like the 2016 colored pencil kind, but like the people who are obviously looking at aya takano or yoshitomo nara, and it's always some pale, vaguely asian/wasian girl wearing cute clothes O.o idk that's so specific ig but it's crazy how many followers they have! and while it is good, they're not pushing themselves to be anything more that an "aesthetic artist." i mean you can say that to any other popular art style really, but i think contemporary japanese artists are the big thing right now, so i just see a lot of people online emulating that style
but anyways back to my initial point, the (sometimes self-taught) artists with a large online presence have most likely never been given a formal critique from an academically-trained/professional artist (which in most cases, that professional would be an old white man lol) so they are complacent with making things that appease the masses, which is essentially doing the same thing over and over again and not really ever branching out into something different, never experimenting.
ofc there are two sides of the same coin when it comes to whether or not formal art school training is useful, obviously there are a lot of successful artists with very distinctive styles (and those that i personally love) who have never have that formal training—and it's working out well for them!
but i do have to say that during my spring semester of my sophomore year (if any of my art school moots happen to be on here, ifykyk), my art style has been pushed the hardest its ever been and evolved so quickly within a 15-week period that i genuinely think my art wouldn't look like it is today without that professor.
i actually cried on first day of class when he critiqued my art LOL (luckily it was on zoom). when i look back on that moment, i feel like what he said wasn't even that horrible, i think it's just no other professor, even teacher or other person, has ever said that they didn't like my art so bluntly, and it took me so aback in that moment.
but yeah he's my thesis professor and he calls my art deranged all the time (which from what i have chalked up is a positive thing.. O.o)!
so yeah tldr; you just need someone to tell you your art is bad (or else you will be living in an ego bubble🫧 )
first off, this is totally #blog material if you wanna pursue this essay further because i think it’s very insightful ^__^ secondly, i was typing up an entire essay-length response to your comment, but then i realize i can expand this into a full newsletter about it! so thank you for you thoughts, i’ll be exploring this more in another essay for the future :3 this is good stuff
omg.. O.o #blogmaterial ... perhaps i will copy and paste these ramblings onto my spacehey ^__^
tbh the audience there is less about thoughtful essays and more about 2004–2009 myspace roleplay LOL but perhaps i could be one of the few that use the blog feature to its full potential....
not officially diagnosed either but my college friends (who are diagnosed) have said that i do.. (albeit mine is not as severe as theirs' they said) O.o i mean we're twins after all !! i bet it was dad that gave us the adhd gene tbh...

also i think bc of the sudden popularity of condor44 on youtube, i just recently found out they uploaded their music to spotify!!
ik it's always annoying seeing those comments being like "will this be on spotify?!" bc it is better to support the band directly by purchasing their music on bandcamp, but i cannot deny that spotify is where i consistently listen to music, and although i did listen to db by condor44 a while back, i kinda forgot about the song for a bit since i don't have youtube music.. O.o but at least now that it's on spotify i don't have to sit through two 30-second ads to listen to it yay!

yay girlie substack yay!! you've been a big journal girlie for years now so now i can read your thoughts... :O i'm not really been inclined to write my personal thoughts nor am i a fast doodler to make a substack.. O.o but casually blogging on spacehey has been pretty fun! albeit it's mostly posting my art, not any interesting ramblings. but what i like about spacehey is that it's best viewed on desktop for that true old internet experience! perhaps i will post more on it so we can be blog twins...
———
ok i have yapped enuff! can't wait to see what girlie has in store! ^__^ (i can just go into your room and ask teehee..)
GOING TO SPOTIFY RIGHT NOW AND SAVING CONDOR44 TO ALL MY PLAYLISTS!!! THANK YOU! :3 also thank you for reading my substack, i’ve always kept my personal thoughts private hidden in my silly journals, but it’s very freeing in a weird way to be vulnerable with people, even if it’s on the internet. so you should continue your spacehey blog and be fun and silly for all to see! :3 you’ll gather a cool community of people in a more authentic way rather than instagram. i already feel it already interacting with my readers in a meaningful way. to starting blogs because they’re fun, yippee!!!
not officially diagnosed but definitely deal with a lot of similar struggles 😭 also just recently decided to publish my substack so im so glad to see my ig mutuals on here as well. i’ve loved ur art for a min now, excited to see what you bring to this platform!!
whoa an ig mutual, hello hello! welcome! it’s comforting to hear that there are other creatives out there who struggle with the same things. when i’m all alone holed up in my room, hunched over my desk in the dark, it always feels like “OH GOD WHY IS THIS ONLY HAPPENING TO ME???” we’ll go through this together and document our thoughts on our shiny new substacks then <3 thank you for coming along for the ride!
